Annual Check-Up
At Cornwall Animal Hospital in Oakville, we recommend wellness exams and preventive care tailored to your pet’s age — a series of visits for puppies and kittens, annual exams for healthy adults, and biannual checkups for senior pets over seven. These visits help us track development, catch issues early, and provide proactive care at every life stage. A standard wellness exam includes:
- A thorough assessment of the skin, eyes, ears, nose, paws, and coat
- Monitoring of vital signs, including heart rate and blood pressure
- Blood and urine testing to screen for disease and evaluate organ function
- Fecal testing to detect intestinal parasites and digestive issues
- Weight measurement and body condition scoring to monitor for obesity
- Evaluation of posture, gait, reflexes, and overall behavior
Each visit is tailored to your pet’s individual needs, ensuring a proactive approach to lifelong health and well-being.
If any concerns are identified during the exam, our veterinarian will provide prompt recommendations for treatment — whether that involves medication, surgery, or lifestyle and dietary adjustments.

Preparing your pet:
When you arrive for your pet’s appointment, please keep dogs on a leash and cats in a secure carrier. Even friendly pets can become nervous or reactive around unfamiliar animals, and those who are ill or anxious may act unpredictably. If your pet is prone to stress during visits, ask our team in advance about calming medication options to help make the experience easier and more comfortable for them.

Referrals and Critical Care:
In some cases, due to unforeseen circumstances or at your request, we may refer your pet to a specialist or veterinary university for advanced expertise in areas such as internal medicine, surgery, radiology, ultrasound, or critical care.

Payment Options
Payment Policy
Payment is due in full at the time services are provided, either at drop-off or before discharge, as outlined in your estimate. We aim to keep our fees fair and discuss costs in advance, but we do not offer billing or deferred payments.
We accept debit, Visa, MasterCard, and cash.
Please note: American Express and personal cheques are not accepted.

Medical History:
Your First Visit – What to Bring
If you’re transferring from another veterinary clinic or new to the area, please bring your pet’s medical records to your first appointment — or let us know in advance so we can request them. A complete history helps us understand your pet’s lifestyle, risk factors, and ongoing health concerns, allowing us to create a tailored preventive care plan. If you don’t have full records, simply share what you know. After reviewing your pet’s history and reason for the visit, the veterinarian will perform a thorough exam, discuss findings, and recommend any needed diagnostics or treatments, keeping you involved every step of the way.
